Frequently Asked Questions

Why has the in-person convention been canceled?

While planning the NAFCD + NBMDA Annual Convention through the coronavirus crisis, both organizations prioritized member, attendee, and partner health and safety. After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of this public health crisis, the NAFCD Board of Directors and NBMDA Board of Directors have made the decision to cancel our in-person event in Colorado Springs, Colorado and transition to a fully virtual experience.

Why did you wait to communicate this decision?

The COVID-19 pandemic is an evolving situation and states across the country are in different phases of reopening. We have been watching closely to understand the risks for travelers to and from Colorado and restrictions on mass gatherings with optimistic hopes that an in-person event would be possible this year. When it became evident that it is not in the best interest of our community to gather in-person this fall, we worked quickly to transition the event.

What are the dates of the NAFCD x NBMDA Virtual Xperience?

The NAFCD x NBMDA Virtual Xperience will take place online, November 10-12, 2020.

What will the virtual experience be like?

During the week that we would have met in Colorado, the NAFCD x NBMDA Virtual Xperience will offer a full line-up of live and pre-recorded sessions for virtual conference attendees on the same days. There will be keynotes, general sessions, and networking. Attendees will be able to chat in real-time with other attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and NAFCD/NBMDA staff. A virtual exhibit hall will also be available so that attendees can learn about the latest innovations, products, services and resources.

When will registration open for the virtual experience?

Registration will open mid-August. Look out for more information!

What will the educational programming feature of the virtual experience?

We have successfully transitioned all of our professional speakers who were contracted to speak in Colorado to our virtual event. These speakers have experience presenting within a virtual medium and will incorporate techniques to enhance the learning experience. New content will be added to our offerings beyond what a live schedule will permit offering attendees enhanced value. The 2020 programming line-up has been tailored to address the unique needs of distribution professionals who are navigating their businesses during the pandemic.

Is the Emerging Leaders Conference a separate event from the NAFCD x NBMDA Virtual Xperience?

Yes. This year, we have decided to replace our popular UID In-A-Day training session that precedes our live event with a new virtual experience designed specifically for emerging leaders within our member companies. Over two days, programming will be offered that addresses the unique needs of those professionals who are rising stars within their firms and are on a career path towards senior management. We feel that this audience will respond positively to a virtual event which provides them with customized learning and an opportunity to connect with their peer group.

What are the unique benefits of transitioning the live event to a virtual experience?

The virtual experience allows you to include a broader number of your staff members in the event since there is no travel expense and the time away from work is much shorter than it would be for these individuals to travel to Colorado for three days. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to engage a number of your staff members who can benefit from distribution-specific education and connections.

Does each individual who participates in the virtual event need to register?

Yes. A special distributor corporate registration fee allows four individuals from the firm to register together for one low price. This price also includes a complimentary registration to the Emerging Leaders Conference allowing five individuals to participate in the package prices. Additional individual registrations are available for an extremely reasonable price. Suppliers hosting a virtual exhibit booth is allowed six registrations for their personnel plus two complimentary registrations to the Emerging Leaders Conference.
